Journal of Arts and Education (JOAE) is a peer-reviewed, multidisciplinary journal with a global reach. It welcomes research articles from all disciplines within musical arts education, the arts, humanities, education and social sciences. While JOAE prioritizes expanding knowledge in these core areas, it embraces diverse perspectives. The journal encourages submissions that explore the intersection of arts, education, humanities, and social sciences with fields such as technology, natural science, law, and behavioural science. JOAE fosters collaboration between scholars from various disciplines and geographical locations, building bridges between different communities in the arts, humanities, education, and social sciences. With a particular focus on promoting the intellectual growth of Africa and its diaspora, JOAE seeks original and rigorous theoretical, empirical, and historical research. The journal encourages exploration of new areas, emerging issues, novel findings, and fresh perspectives—including African and non-African literature, digital media, historical and archaeological discoveries in Africa and the Diaspora.

JOAE welcomes a wide range of scholarly work, including research articles employing qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods. The journal encourages innovation in methodology, welcoming both new and established approaches. JOAE seeks high-quality empirical and conceptual research, reviews, poems, representations of oral traditions, and shorter pieces such as commentaries, opinion pieces, and debate contributions. Proposals for special issues are also encouraged. The journal values diverse voices and perspectives, striving to provide a platform for a wide range of viewpoints. It is important to note that JOAE does not accept manuscripts that rely heavily on complex mathematical or statistical formulas and models.
